Psychedelics can be used to better understand yourself. Like dreams, they can grant access to deeper levels of the unconscious. Your presence in these internal spaces can help you process experiences and uncover aspects of your personality that are harder to reach in an unaltered state. Whether you're entering therapy to prepare for a psychedelic experience, want to learn more, or are looking to better understand a past trip, I can help.
While legal to access to psychedelics is not common in Utah, we still have options. If you’re enrolled in ketamine therapy or have plans to travel to a place where they are legal I can help you prepare, process, and integrate the insights you gain through the experience.
I prefer to use parts work, or IFS (Internal Family Systems), hand in hand with psychedelics to understand yourself better. We are all made of different parts, or I like to think of it as how you react in certain situations. Common parts are the critic, anxiety, procrastination, anger, escapism through media, and perfectionism. We developed these parts to protect us, but we may overuse them in our daily life and their original intentions can become distorted. The key is to connect with your true self and distinguish it from these parts—something psychedelics can help facilitate.
Before a trip, I focus on helping you differentiate your parts, making it easier to visualize and understand different aspects of your personality. Our brains often communicate in a nonverbal way; you feel emotions before fully understanding them or you instinctively pull away from a hot stove before realizing it’s hot. The visuals of parts work can help your brain make sense of psychedelic experiences, creating a shared "language" that makes unconscious insights easier to process.
